The Office of Inspector General within the Office of the Kansas Attorney General (OAG) is accepting applications to fill (2) Auditor position to assist with conducting audits, reviews, and investigations of the State of Kansas’ cash, food, and health assistance programs.

PRIMARY DUTIES: Under supervision of the Audit Manager, the Auditor will perform advanced research, analysis, and writing duties to include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Working with other team members, perform sophisticated analysis of providers’ claims data and payment history in support of case assessment and investigative duties, analyzing to detect fraudulent schemes and abnormal patterns.
- Analyze and interpret business, financial, and medical documentation.
- Research, review, and investigate instances of suspected fraud, waste, abuse, illegal acts, and non-compliance with legal and contractual requirements.
- Prepare written reports and supporting documents such as graphs and charts to support analysis and conclusions.
- Review state agencies’ performance in administering cash, food, and health assistance programs and develop recommendations for increased efficiency, accountability, and oversight.
- Research and analyze the performance of the cash, food, and health assistance programs.
- Assist in the preparation of testimony or presentations before legislative committees and other groups.
- Receive and complete a variety of assignments that may include obtaining and reviewing data/reports, conducting interviews to obtain information relevant to an audit or investigation, and reviewing other team members’ work for accuracy.

TRAVEL
Some travel within Kansas for hearings, trials, and prosecution-related duties will be required. Occasional out-of-state travel for training may be required. A valid driver’s license is required when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in finance, accounting, or related field(s). Professional or technical experience, as deemed by the Inspector General to be sufficient qualification to perform the assigned work, may be substituted for the required college study.
- Experience in conducting audits, performance reviews, investigations, or complex program analysis within a workplace setting.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
- A valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the state cash, food, and health assistance programs.
- Experience with medical coding/billing.
- Prior experience with a state or federal inspector general’s office.
- Prior experience in auditing state government agencies or programs.
- Certification in internal auditing, fraud examination, medical coding, or a related field is a plus.
