Kobach files consumer protection suit alleging deceptive practices by Topeka landscaper
TOPEKA – (February 6, 2026) – Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach today announced his office has filed a civil lawsuit against Jeremy Lord and his company, All Seasons Lawn, Tree and Landscape, LLC, alleging violations of the Kansas Consumer Protection Act (KCPA). The petition, filed in Shawnee County District Court, alleges that Lord committed multiple unconscionable and deceptive acts and practices against two elderly consumers.
“The Attorney General’s Office is committed to protecting Kansas consumers from unfair business practices, particularly those that target the elderly,” Kobach said. “Whether a business is a large corporation or a local operation, my office will ensure that Kansans get what they pay for and that our consumer protection laws are vigorously enforced.”
The Attorney General’s Office alleges that Lord took a $50,000 deposit from an elderly consumer. After the consumer questioned the amount he planned to charge for the work, Lord agreed to refund the money but never did so and never performed any work. The petition further alleges that Lord stopped communicating with the consumer.
In a separate transaction outlined in the petition, the state alleges Lord misled another consumer by fabricating a government “grant program.” The lawsuit claims Lord told the consumer that a grant would reimburse 50% to 85% of the construction costs —a representation the state alleges was entirely false and used to induce the consumer to pay over $30,000 in additional funds that the consumer would not have paid but for Lord’s misrepresentation.
The lawsuit seeks restitution for the affected consumers, civil penalties for alleged violations of the KCPA, and a permanent injunction banning the defendant from conducting business in Kansas.
A copy of the petition is available here.
Assistant Attorney General Paul Shipp is handling the matter for the office.
