TOPEKA – (May 13, 2026) – Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach announced today that Kristen Czugala, Chief of the Victim Services Division of the Kansas Attorney General’s Office, was elected President of the National Association of Crime Victim Compensation Boards (NACVCB) last week.

She will serve a two-year term in the position.

“I’m truly honored to serve as President of the NACVCB. The organization keeps compensation programs across the United States connected and provides high quality training and technical support to its member programs," Czugala said. "The NACVCB has been an invaluable asset to me during my time as the Kansas Crime Victims Compensation Director, and I look forward to continuing that legacy over the next two years.”

Founded in 1977, the NACVCB promotes the exchange of information and ideas among a nationwide network of victim compensation programs. The Association works to promote better methods for serving crime victims through training, technical assistance, sound administrative practices, fiscal stability, outreach, communication, and advocacy.

“I am extremely pleased to congratulate Kristen Czugala on her election as President of the National Association of Crime Victim Compensation Boards,” said Attorney General Kris Kobach. “Kristen’s leadership in this role reflects the excellence and dedication of our Kansas team and will help ensure that victims across the country receive the compassionate, effective support they deserve. Her appointment underscores Kansas’s strong commitment to supporting crime victims and elevating the standards of victim services at both the state and national levels.”

In her role as Division Chief, Czugala oversees Kansas’s Crime Victims Compensation Fund, which provides financial assistance to victims of violent crime for expenses such as medical care, counseling, funeral costs, and lost wages.
