Kansas Attorney General's Office recognizes Suicide Prevention Month with Youth Art Contest
TOPEKA – (May 14, 2026) – Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach today announced winners of the Youth Suicide Prevention Youth Art Contest. Sponsored by the Office of the Kansas Attorney General in collaboration with members of the Kansas Suicide Prevention Coalition, the annual contest is held to raise awareness for suicide prevention and to promote messages of hope, help, strength, and resilience in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.
“Suicide Prevention Month reminds us there is always hope even in the darkest moments. It’s about showing people that help is available, healing is possible, and no one has to face their challenges alone,” Jennifer Slagle, Youth Suicide Prevention Coordinator with the Office of the Kansas Attorney General, said.
The contest was open to Kansas youth in grades 6-12 and concluded on April 3, 2026. Students were invited to submit original artwork which provided an opportunity for them to share their voices, creativity, and experiences in a meaningful way. Submissions were divided into three age categories with top winners recognized in each.
Winners were notified on May 11, 2026.
