Office of Medicaid Inspector General hosts international visitors to talk "Combatting Government Corruption"
On April 1, the Office of Medicaid Inspector General had the privilege of hosting a delegation of 11 prosecutors, auditors, and journalists as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program titled “Combatting Government Corruption,” sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and Global Ties KC. Hailing from Bosnia, Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovak Republic, and Slovenia, the group engaged in an insightful overview of OMIG's operations, presented by Inspector General Steven Anderson. This included an in-depth discussion on the approaches to investigations and audits, exploring both similarities and differences in our respective areas, and addressing the challenges faced.
The program aims to examine policies and programs at various levels of government to combat corruption and abuse of power, delve into best practices in detecting and prosecuting corrupt officials, emphasize the importance of partnerships and information sharing in combating corruption, and understand the role of media and civil society in monitoring and reporting on public corruption.
