Blue Alert
The Kansas Blue Alert Program was authorized during the 2014 legislative session with the enrollment of House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) No. 5029. HCR 5029 authorized the KBI to create the Blue Alert Program to speed the apprehension of violent criminals who kill or seriously injure law enforcement officers.
Purple Alert
The Kansas Purple Alert Plan was passed by the Kansas Legislature in 2024. The Kansas Purple Alert Protocol creates a voluntary process for coordinating efforts between law enforcement agencies, media outlets, and other entities when a person 18 years of age or older who has been diagnosed with an intellectual disability is missing and believed to be unable to return to safety without assistance.
