Internet Crime Complaint Center
The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) receives and tracks cyber-enabled crime for the FBI. Crimes facilitated by the internet, cryptocurrency scams, government impersonation, elder fraud, identity theft—all can and should be reported to IC3 by individuals and by law enforcement. Accurate complaints and data are critical to help the FBI and local law enforcement bring criminals to justice.
Multidisciplinary Teams
Multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) for elder abuse work from the understanding that no one discipline is able to completely address the complex issues involved in elder abuse cases. MDTs bring together social services agencies, law enforcement, financial institutions and other community agencies to work for resolutions in cases of elder abuse. MDTs also look for solutions to systemic issues and/or barriers that impact services delivery. Finally, MDTs work to hold individuals who perpetrate elder abuse accountable for their actions.
Pursuant to K.S.A. 75-782, the Attorney General is responsible for facilitating the convening of an elder and dependent adult abuse multidisciplinary team (MDT) in each of the 31 Kansas judicial districts. Each team will include the sheriff; the county or district attorney; and representatives from DCF, KDADS, and the state long-term care ombudsman. Teams may also include a broader range of expertise, including medical providers, law enforcement, financial services professionals, and area agencies on aging personnel.
If you are interested in the work of a particular MDT or in joining an MDT, please call (785) 296-2215 and ask for MDT Coordinator Bessie Tolbert.
