St. Francis man found guilty of threatening Cheyenne County courthouse officials

ST. FRANCIS – (January 15, 2015) – A Cheyenne County jury yesterday found Vance White, 45, of St. Francis, guilty of aggravated criminal threat against courthouse officials, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

White was also found guilty of an additional count of aggravated criminal threat which caused the evacuation of a law office in St. Francis and two misdemeanor charges involving harassment and stalking.  The crimes were committed in June and July 2013. Senior District Court Judge Jack L. Burr presided over the trial. The matter will be set for sentencing in Cheyenne County District Court.

 The case was investigated by the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office, Sherman County Sheriff’s Office, the Attorney General’s Office, Criminal Litigation Division investigators and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.  Assistant Attorneys General Steve Karrer and Lyndzie Carter of Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case.
