General Regulatory Sandbox Program Advisory Committee

The General Regulatory Sandbox Program Advisory Committee serves as the primary advisory body supporting the regulatory relief division in the administration of the general regulatory sandbox program. The committee provides guidance and recommendations on identifying state laws, rules, and regulations that may be appropriate for waiver or suspension to allow innovative business models to operate on a limited and supervised basis. Drawing on perspectives from business, regulatory agencies, and the legislature, the committee helps evaluate proposed sandbox applications, considers regulatory barriers that may unnecessarily inhibit business formation or growth, and advises on whether regulatory flexibility can be provided while appropriately protecting consumers.

The General Regulatory Sandbox Program Advisory Committee consists of 11 members structured to ensure representation from business interests, state regulatory agencies, and the legislature. Seven members are appointed by the director, including five representatives of business interests from a variety of industries and two representatives of state agencies that license or regulate businesses. The remaining four members are appointed by legislative leadership, including one member appointed by the President of the Senate, one member appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, one member appointed by the Senate Minority Leader, and one member appointed by the House Minority Leader.
