Lane county man sentenced, under Jessica's Law, to 25 years to life in prison on child sex charges

DIGHTON – (June 1, 2012) – A Lane County man was sentenced today, under Jessica's Law, to 25 years to life in prison for aggravated indecent liberties with a child and aggravated solicitation of a child, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced today.

William Lance McGowan, 64, of Dighton was sentenced, under Jessica's Law, to 25 years to life in the Kansas Department of Corrections.  McGowan was previously convicted by a jury of the charges on January 27, 2012. The crimes were alleged to have occurred between 2007 and 2009.  Judge Bruce T. Gatterman handed down the sentence today in Lane County District Court.

Assistant Attorney General Nicole Romine, Goodland, prosecuted the case. It was investigated by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
