Release Date: Jan 16, 2014

FREDONIA – (January 16, 2014) – A Wilson County woman was ordered today to repay more than $50,000 to the Kansas Medicaid program after pleading no contest to 15 charges of Medicaid Fraud, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

Teresa McConnell, 53, Fall River, was ordered by Judge Daryl Ahlquist to pay restitution of $50,758.41 to the Kansas Medicaid program. All 15 charges were felonies. McConnell was also ordered to serve 60 days of house arrest. McConnell was accused of submitting false home health care time sheets indicating she had received home health services while she was in the hospital and while the care providers were incarcerated.

The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Division. Assistant Attorney General Stefani Hepford of Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case.
